The Big Day

Today was the Global Big Day. For those of you not familiar with the Global Big Day, it is an event promoted by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology with the goal of recording as many different species of birds around the world in one day. You can find out more about it and see the stats here. In honour of the Big Day, I headed over to a local “hot spot,” Lake Wabukayne, to go birding. I did my best to count all the species I could identify and submitted my first ever ebird checklist! Here are some of the highlights from today:

Baltimore Oriole
Scarlet Tanager
Cedar Waxwing
Chestnut-sided Warbler
